The Young Mind Clinic
Providing comprehensive psychological care for children and teenagers throughout North Ryde.
Child Psychologist North Ryde
Navigating life as a young person can sometimes be difficult. For those with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, these difficulties may seem even more overwhelming.
At The Young Mind Clinic, we are committed to ensuring every child and teenager has the ability to access evidence-based therapy.
Our experienced psychologists, with their specific insight into young people, focus on delivering a tailored and supportive treatment plan for them.

How We Work To Support You
We work solely with children, teenagers, and their families. Our team of psychologists supports young people in uncovering their strengths and developing skills to handle life’s challenges, while also empowering parents and carers to build lasting, supportive relationships.
We deliver therapy and comprehensive evaluations to address concerns that may affect children and teenagers up to 18 years old. These can include ADHD Assessment, Autism Assessment, and Psychometric Assessment.

Therapy and Treatment
Our approach focuses on evidence-based techniques designed to address the specific issues the young person is dealing with.
Our therapeutic approach is evidence based and includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills (DBT Skills), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Strengths Based Approaches, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
We offer support in a relaxed and comforting environment designed to make you and your children feel at ease.

Assessments
Our services include assessments for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), specific learning disorders (SLD), giftedness, and intellectual disability (ID), along with identifying cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses to support educational planning.
We can assess whether various factors may be influencing the overall challenges the young person is experiencing. Every evaluation is detailed and includes screening for alternative explanations or issues.
Common Conditions We Help Address
Whether your child has general concerns often seen in young people, more significant symptoms, or an established diagnosis, we can provide assistance. Some of the challenges we address include:
- Anxiety, including phobias, social anxiety, separation anxiety, generalised anxiety, and perfectionism
- Depression
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other obsessive-compulsive behaviours, including tics

AHPRA Registered
Our team of psychologists is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and can provide Medicare-rebates.
Booking with us
A referral is not necessary to see a psychologist, but to access a Medicare rebate, you will need to visit your GP, specialist paediatrician, or psychiatrist for an eligible Mental Health Care Plan.
A referral is not generally needed to claim through private health insurance, but you should confirm the details of your policy with your private health insurer.
For appointments, please call 02 9420 0896 or email admin@theyoungmindclinic.com.

What To Expect and How to Book
No referral is necessary to book an appointment, but a Medicare rebate can be accessed by obtaining a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. For private health insurance rebates, referrals are generally not required, though you should verify your coverage details with your insurer. For young people under 16, an initial consultation is usually held with one or both guardians, preferably with both attending if feasible. For separated families, separate consultations with each parent can be scheduled.
The goal of this is to obtain key background information, enable open communication, and plan the most suitable next steps. For children aged 16 and above, the initial session involves both the young person and their parent/s, often with time spent together and individually with the psychologist.
We offer Telehealth options. If you plan to visit the clinic, please let us know about any mobility concerns, as the entrance has stairs.
To arrange an appointment, get in touch here or call on (02) 9420 0896.
